Up North Getaway

Every year Jeremy can work extra hard and earn a trip with American Family -- so far we have been to New York City and Orlando -- and this year's trip was to Cancun. He qualified this year but they ended up canceling the trip due to issues in Mexico, and gave money instead. So we decided to use part of the money to pay bills but still take a smaller trip to replace Cancun. We decided on a 3-day trip up north to Lutsen. Lutsen is actually a mountain for skiing, but there's a lot to do in the summer, too.

At the very last minute (and I mean "last minute", we were into our 2nd hour of driving and had already passed the exit), we decided to take a detour north to Tower, MN, to golf at probably the nicest course in Minnesota -- The Wilderness at Fortune Bay. The course was amazing and we had a great time.

Here is our building at "Eagle Ridge Resort" in Lutsen. We got a great deal on lodging -- only $180 for 3 nights, our room even had a jacuzzi. We didn't spend much time in the room but were really happy with it. You never know when you just book something online.

Some friends met us up there and we had a lot of fun golfing Superior National (the views were amazing and we even had a deer walk right by us on one hole), . . .

hiking, looking for animals (very disappointed we didn't see any moose), canoeing, . . .

and eating!

Now it's back to regular life! That's good, too.

Thank you for adding our blogsite to your blogsite. It looks like you had a great time up north. If we die in a plane crash, or get killed in S. Korea because N. Korea has an evil dictator, JRB can have the new golf clubs and golf balls purchased last week. The only thing is that the golf balls say: "State Farm". A can of paint can remedy that in a hurry. Micah will be home soon! Thanks again.

Well that was a smart use of that money! I am sure cancun would have been fun, but to get the opportunity to get cash like that and pay off bill and still go on a trip is a real blessing! Sounds like it was a fun weekend though!!
