Beds, Birthdays, and Bunnies

Here are some pictures to show you some things we've been up to lately. Last week we decided that Emily deserved a "higher" bed (she had been sleeping on a twin mattress on the floor, mainly because we thought she might fall out of a bed.) So Jeremy set up his old twin bed from when he was younger, and so far it's worked great. She hasn't fallen out yet, and has been staying in her bed all night (some nights she might cry once, other nights she makes it through all night.)

Here is a "mug shot" of the girls before church last Sunday. You can see they are really forcing these smiles while mom gets a picture of them in their dresses.

Here are my Peeps with their first Peeps of the year. It was the girls' idea to put the costumes on while they ate them, so I had to get a picture, of course.

We celebrated Jeremy's birthday on Friday by first of all going to Hans Bakery for donuts in the morning.

Then for dinner we celebrated by going to Manny's Steakhouse in downtown Minneapolis with our friends Jay and Jen Tonneson. Look closely at the giant pile of mashed potatoes on the left. Steak is ok but I could've eaten the mashed potatoes as my meal (and I think next time I will.) Then again, I love mashed potatoes. The hashbrowns in the middle were pretty tasty, too.

What would a birthday at Manny's be without the giant brownie. You might remember this from a post a couple months ago. It was even better this time.

It was a great birthday dinner for my honey.

Here is Bri before church tonight, all cute in her little Easter bunny dress. Since she has a regular Easter dress for next weekend I figured I better put this one on her tonight! Thanks grandma!

Aww, my little girls. Enough said.

Happy Birthday baby!

Today I want to wish my wonderful, crazy husband a happy birthday! He is the best husband and father a person could ever ask for. And since he has more hobbies than anyone I know, I've put together a collection of some of his favorite things from the past year!

But his most important hobby are these 2 little girls.

He is the most fun, loving dad I know. He is not afraid to be silly with them and he loves them more than anything.

Now, I will ask them if they have anything to tell daddy on his birthday. Bri says, "Candles, candles. Happy birthday daddy, happy birthday daddy." (She must know there's going to be A LOT of candles on daddy's cake.)

Emily says, "I love him. I hope he gets back from breakfast." (I am not sure what she's talking about, since right now it's 3:00pm Thursday and daddy did not go out for breakfast.)

Happy birthday to the man who works hard, plays hard, and loves even harder. I hope you have a wonderful birthday, honey.

Craziness

Sorry for the long blog sabbatical, I know my readers are probably getting desperate. Or maybe not, maybe no one even noticed or cared. Anyway, I have been very busy with my "log job", as well as all the other weekly activities and household duties. Last week Bri went home with my sister Jessie to Nebraska to stay with Grandma Margaret for the week. Bri had a great time and so did Emily, being an only child (the life she never had, since she was 5 months old when we found out I was pregnant with Bri!) At one point last week I asked her if she missed her sister, and she said, "No, I like it just me." I didn't really expect her to answer otherwise but it was still funny. Here are the two of them the morning that Bri left.
That weekend the 3 of us went to Moorhead to visit our friends the Olsons. Emily and Lily played absolutely wonderfully together. It was such a nice, relaxing weekend for us with the girls entertaining themselves.

Whenever little girls get together, the most popular activity is dress-up. Lily's dress-up outfit of choice for most of the weekend was this flower girl dress which she looked beautiful in! Is this quite the model pose or what?

Now for what's consumed our minds for the past couple days. Last Monday Emily had her preschool screening where they just want to see if their development is where it should be. She passed all the little activities with flying colors, except for the vision test. Her right eye was great, but her left eye couldn't see past the second line. They recommended that we take her to an eye doctor to get re-checked. We figured we would do it sometime in the next month but weren't overly worried. Then that weekend she developed a little white bump on her eye, with redness all around. That started getting us a little concerned and we decided to bring her to an opthamologist yesterday. They discovered that although the bump was probably just a minor infection and had nothing to do with her vision, her left eye's vision was very poor. So to make a long story short, she is going to wear glasses for the next several years and also a patch on her right eye for 2 hours a day to help strengthen her left eye. It is their hope that since we are doing this now, eventually after many years she won't have to wear glasses anymore.

Bri was, of course, jealous of Emily getting to try on all the glasses.

Her glasses will be done in two weeks and then the real work will begin! Please pray for her that she won't mind wearing them and that her eye will strengthen quickly!
