Pheasants galore

Last weekend we went to South Dakota as we did last year to go pheasant hunting.  Emily was all excited to hold a pheasant since she didn't want to last year (see last photo).  We had a great weekend full of wonderful hospitality by the Kleinsassers and too much food, and the guys got their limit of pheasants in a couple hours both days. 

It's tradition that every year we go to the "bunkhouse" on Saturday night for a huge pheasant fry.  The whole Kleinsasser family works so hard to make tons of food and we have a wonderful dinner and a great time. 

There is also an old schoolhouse on their brother's property which is where the girls are in the pictures below.   

 The girls were excited to have some more friends there this year, the Thone boys Coulter and Coy.

So my girls are thrilled to be holding dead animals, what can I say?

Is every kid obsessed with cameras?  My girls are constantly asking to look at pictures on my camera, then when I look later, they've taken MANY pictures as well.  Many a morning have I woken up to find that the first thing Bri did when she got out of bed was climb onto the piano to get to my purse to get my camera out.  The reason I know is because when I get up, the camera is laying out and many "interesting" pictures have been taken.  :)  Here are a few of her recent portraits.

Crazy warm fall

As most of you know, it's been unseasonably warm up here this fall.  Last weekend we were in the mid 80's which was about 20 degrees warmer than usual.  I even heard there was snow on the ground at this time last year.  So we are trying to enjoy and savor every minute of the warmth, knowing it's soon coming to an end.  We've been to the Eveland Family Farm up the road twice, once just us and also with my parents last weekend. 

  

Ok, I'm blanking out on anything meaningful to write about, so I better sign off for now.
