Here's a quote by Oswald Chambers that was in my Bible study yesterday:
"O Lord, this morning disperse every mist, and shine clear and strong and invigorating. Forgive my tardiness, it takes me so long to awaken to some things. Lord God Omniscient, give me wisdom this day to worship and work aright and be well pleasing to You. Lord, interpret Yourself to me more and more in fullness and beauty. Dark and appalling are the clouds of war and wickedness and we know not where to turn, but Lord God, You reign."
When you feel depressed with all that is going on around us, remember that God still reigns. I hope you have a wonderful Friday and a great weekend!

Como Zoo
Darryl, Wendy, and Michael are here this week so we have had a good time with them. The guys have been golfing and fishing, us girls went to the outlet malls in Albertville (minus the kids, yea!), and we all went to Como Zoo yesterday. It was a beautiful day, perfect to be outside. Unfortunately our good friend the polar bear was in Detroit while his habitat is being redone. We did see the monkeys, giraffes, zebra, lions, flamingos, seals, and more. Even the sloth was very active for once!

Who has time to blog?
After my last entry a friend emailed and asked how in the world do I have time for a blog? No, I'm not superwoman. Basically, the answer is this: Bri can now do stairs. She has been able to go up them for awhile, but now she can come down. Since our house has 3 different sets of stairs and I refused to put 6 baby gates at the bottom and top of each set, let's just say I was following her around a lot. Now that she can do them herself you wouldn't believe all the extra time I have! (don't tell Jeremy) I already do enough work around here, I deserve a little time to myself on the computer, right? ha ha. Plus he's golfing again right now so he won't know any better. :)
Jeremy's brother Darryl, wife Wendy, and 9-month old baby Michael got here last night from Las Vegas. I can't wait to see them again tonight and have the cousins spend some time together. Emily only hit Michael in the head once last night.

Close calls
We had some close calls yesterday. The day started out like any other, Jeremy on his way to the golf course around 6:45 am to get in a quick round before work. I let Bella (our St. Bernard) outside to do her morning duties, and after a minute she came back up and laid on the deck. I got Bri's breakfast ready and was feeding her when I realized I hadn't seen Bella in awhile. I peeked outside, didn't see her, called her, nothing. I decided to go outside to see if she was behind the shed when I noticed the gate open. Uh oh. I quickly looked around and called her, nothing. So I grabbed Bri out of her high chair, loaded the girls into the Yukon, grabbed leash and treats, and headed out to scour the neighborhood. I had visions of her reaching Hanson (busy street about 2 blocks away), running freely without a care in the world. Bella is not the brightest dog sometimes and takes full advantage of exploring when she is loose (which has only happened about twice in her life). For some reason I decided to head the other way out of our driveway (opposite of Hanson) and right away saw a neighbor guy walking our way. When I asked him if he'd seen her dog, he said she just went into our neighbors yard. I pulled back into our driveway, and a minute later I saw her trotting on the side of the road and she came right back into our backyard (lured by treats, of course.) So that was Bella's little adventure for the day.
Now Jeremy. Let me preface the story by saying that he has played about 40 rounds of golf this year, this year being since about April 15th. If you do the math, that is over 1 round per day. Don't worry, it hasn't interfered with much. He goes in early before work, gets a good workout in since he walks the course, and actually gets more work done at work and at home since he is happier and has something to look forward to. And I really haven't minded, a happier husband means a happier wife. So anyway, yesterday during his work golf league he got nailed in the back by a golf ball. He would probably be more dramatic with the whole story, but all I know is that he felt like he was shot and immediately fell to the ground in pain. He got really lucky that it didn't hit his head or spine. After "coming to", he of course had to finish his last 2 holes of the round. Heaven forbid, he couldn't just forfeit to the other guy! Now he has a big red circle on his back with a white center, soon to be a nasty bruise. Although he's a little sore, "fortunately" he'll be back on the course in no time.
Wow, this is a long one. One more thing -- after all that excitement yesterday we decided to try the girls out on the boat for the first time. Even though they could barely move in their life jackets, I think they had a good time. Here are some pictures.

Let's give this a try. . .
A few weeks ago a friend emailed me some info about a mom's blog she read, and mentioned that she could see me doing something like that. I didn't think much of it, but lately started thinking it sounded like fun. I really enjoy reading other people's blogs, so I thought I'd try one of my own. Who knows if I'll take the time to do much with it, or if anyone will even read this; just thought I'd give it a try. There, I survived my first entry. :)
